The Academy’s Manga School introductory program follows a robust and validated educational approach. Students undergo a systematic and demanding curriculum focusing on fundamental graphic and narrative aspects of Manga. Progress through each level culminates in a significant achievement, enabling students to advance independently and enhance their skills effectively.

The beginner course introduces the structure of the narrative scene and the creation of recognizable characters in different shots.

The next step, the intermediate course, takes the scene from the yonkoma to the pages and delves into the technique of manga layout thanks in part to top and bottom shots, the use of perspective solutions, and more dynamic poses.

In the advanced course we move on to a short eight-page sequence and a more specific study of character design, going deeper into perspective and drawing techniques.

Traditional inking and screen toning techniques are also studied during the various courses to arrive, in gradual steps, at a proper mastery of the working tools. Only in this way can manga pages be made according to the standards of Japanese technique.

Traditional technique is essential if you want to learn properly. That is why the Academy usually sends all tools and working materials directly to each student before the start of class. If it is not possible to send the materials, the Academy will provide a list of the required materials, including information on where they can be obtained.

Online classes are conducted in a mixed mode so that guided explanations are always clear and clearly visible without sacrificing the real-time assistance of tutors and teachers.

To ensure the best learning environment and close interaction with instructors, we are limiting enrollment to this edition of the Manga School Online to one class per time zone (EDT and PDT), with a maximum of 15 students in each class.

Manga is a very powerful narrative medium that can quickly engage readers of all ages. This does not mean that making manga is a simple matter. On the contrary, a very specific and in-depth set of technical skills is required.
The Manga School courses are challenging and unsuitable for students who are too young; enrollment is open to students 12 years and older, but it is a good idea for younger students to be paired with an adult.
